Today is the first of September. A new month is here, and probably one of the most feared among all. So many people are frightened by September. I hear a lot of people that are already anxious about it from weeks before. No kidding, it looks like September is now a cause of stress.

The main reason of this is what is known as post-holiday blues. In fact, in September, most people come back to their usual routine, either work, school or university. Holidays are over, no more sunbathing on the beach and the daylight is decreasing along with the temperature. No more time for having a lay in, partying or chilling and doing nothing. It’s time to get back to work!

I remember when I was going to school I hated September and the end of holiday time.

From now on, it will go back to the cycle of waiting for the weekend, which will be considered as a ‘short holiday’. That’s the new break from the routine until Christmas time. Everyone will start the week already longing for Friday. The weekend is now the oxygen that will then cause the “Monday Blues”.

Well, this whole process is quite crazy and controversial. If September scares you and you want to change this situation, you need to change your paradigm. You need to change the way you perceive the world. Yes, this can be challenging, because when you are in the middle of a paradigm it is hard to imagine any other paradigm. So, if you’re used to looking at things in a certain way, it requires effort to change perspective.


The truth is that we shape our own future and this new month, can be a new opportunity, and not something to worry about.

Today, in this precise moment, you can decide to make a change and move towards the direction of what you really want to achieve. This may be in your job, fitness or any other area of your life.

The beginning of a new month is a great time to ponder on the work done in the last 30 days and plan how to improve our daily performance.


The only time that counts is now. The only moment your awareness should be focused on is the present one.


Khalil Gibran in his wonderful book “the prophet” said:

“But if in your thought you must measure time into seasons, let each season encircle all the other seasons,

And let today embrace the past with remembrance and the future with longing.”

This is just WOW!

So, September can be your friend and today can be your best ally.
